Hisland to even acquaint you with the commitment of my Secy Stanhope, that he is of opinion that as it has been decided that the freight materials and stores required for the defences at Hong Kong, Singapore, Mauritius and other Colonial stations are to be paid for out of the Contribution in aid of defence Colonial funds, it will be more convenient to obtain these stores in future through the Crown Agents, whose department is the recognised channel for the supply of the requirements of Colonial Governments.
